What would a world be like without pallets?

Can you imagine what a world without pallets would look like ? These structures, although they seem simple and people often do not know their importance, are crucial for modern logistics. Anything that is around you at the moment, be it food, your cell phone or computer, etc., probably, at some point, has already been stored and transported on Large Wooden Boxes.

Even so, many people are still unaware of their role in the supply chain. But then, imagine now if they all disappear. Read on to find out what would happen and understand how such structures are fundamental to the functioning of all things as we know them today.

A world without pallets, is it possible?

Currently, there are billions of pallets in circulation around the world. Of these, it is estimated that 90% are made of wood. They are extremely important for modern logistics, being important links in most supply chains.

In addition, they are essential for the transportation of all types of goods, from T-shirts to automotive parts and pharmaceutical products.

It is very likely that almost everything we have today has already been packaged on top of such a structure. Or, at least, part of it, as components, raw material and so on. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that pallets move the world. On the contrary, this is a maxim that becomes more and more true.

However, even so, it's hard to think how important pallets are, right? Okay, well, you're probably aware of how much they help your business processes. But in general terms, what could happen if these decks cease to exist? See below:

 Forklifts would be useless

Forklifts are widely used machines for handling palletized loads. They became popular at the same time as Pallets during World War II. They even influenced the evolution of the design of these structures, due to their forks.

If pallets disappeared, not only would forklift sales stop altogether, but the hundreds of thousands of forklifts already in use would become relics from the warehouse. After all, this platform would no longer exist, whose structure is designed so that the forklift's forks are fitted.

Consequently, people would have to do all the heavy lifting. And, as a result, there would probably be more accidents, damage to products and so on.

The economy would be significantly affected

The pallets have a critical function that connects many aspects of numerous industries. Thus, if they disappeared, supply chains would be broken. This would affect retailers, distributors, manufacturers and carriers. As a result, companies would not be able to get their products to consumers, at least not efficiently.

In other words, efficiency would be the biggest victim, as the disappearance of pallets would affect loading and unloading times, safety and costs. These increased costs always reach the consumer, causing products and goods to have a higher price, which no customer likes. Then, people would stop buying because they can no longer pay or because they do not see value in that.

The number of creative projects would decrease

Okay, people can create new designs with just about any material. However, wooden pallets seem to reveal people's creative side. Whether building modern furniture or any other object from pallet wood, you can find countless DIY tutorials on the internet, or Do It Yourself.

The world without wooden pallets would be chaotic

Now that you have a glimpse of what would happen in a world without pallets , it becomes easier to understand its importance, right? After all, without a doubt, you can see that these structures are the basis on which modern logistics works, in addition to being one of the bases of the economy as well.

So, now that you understand some of the reasons why wooden pallets are widely used around the world, count on Debbie’s Pallet. We are a supplier of cutting edge logistics products to meet the needs of your business.
